Why is my mobile computer losing Wi-Fi?
Preventive battery replacement, Wi-Fi coverage audit and a general check of your scanners and mobile computers.
In brief. When a mobile computer loses Wi-Fi or displays “No Internet”, the manufacturers' guides cite access points broadcasting on a band or with security that the mobile computer does not support, roaming settings that keep it on an access point that is too weak, Wi-Fi power saving mode and captive portal detection. First compare the bands and security of your access points with the mobile computer's data sheet.

Why does the mobile computer lose Wi-Fi? The causes cited by manufacturers
These causes are taken from the manufacturers' guides; each example names the model concerned. The entry for your model, in the model-by-model table below, gives the exact procedure.
- Band or security not supportedThe Datalogic Falcon X4 works in 802.11 b/g/n at 2.4 GHz and a/n at 5 GHz; the Honeywell CK62 adds 6 GHz and WPA3. For an older WPA-TKIP network, Datalogic recommends WPA2-AES.
- Unsuitable roamingDatalogic (Falcon X60) and CipherLab (RK26) have you adjust the roaming settings so that the mobile computer switches earlier to an access point with a stronger signal.
- Wi-Fi power savingUnitech fixes slowness on the HT730 with Wavelink Telnet by disabling the Wi-Fi power saving mode (Power Save Mode).
- Captive portal or no Internet accessCipherLab (RK25, RK26, RK95) links the “No Internet” message to an access point without Internet access or to captive portal detection; Unitech explains how to disable this detection with StageGO (HT380, HT730).
- Battery swapOn the Zebra MC3300, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth only stay connected for 30 seconds during a hot battery swap.
What to check, in order
- Compare bands and securityThose of your access points with the mobile computer's data sheet.
- Test another networkCipherLab advises testing another network (SSID) to find out whether the mobile computer or the network is at fault.
- Check roaming and power savingWith the settings described in your model's guide.
